Karen Hendrikz has 20+ years’ experience in training, consulting, and business and HR management. A large part of this experience was gained while working for SAGE. Karen initially worked in the Payroll Consulting Department as a Payroll Consultant and then a Consulting Manager. During this time she was instrumental in implementing the consulting methodology of SAGE VIP at SAGE Micropay in Australia. Upon returning to South Africa, Karen started up the Recruitment and Payroll Outsourcing Departments for SAGE VIP in Cape Town. During the final four years of her career at SAGE VIP, Karen held the position of Cape Town Branch Manager.
Following on from her career at SAGE, Karen joined the Stonehage Group, to establish a HR Department for their South African businesses. During this time Karen gained valuable experience in various HR generalist functions. Areas which had the greatest impact included remuneration management and benchmarking, development of training interventions, streamlining performance management and assessing employee engagement.
In 2015 Karen established her independent consulting practice, KH Consulting.
Karen holds a BCom (Hons) Industrial Psychology (cum laude) and MCom HR (cum laude) degrees from Stellenbosch University, her MCom degree thesis was focussed on the behavioural assessment of principle-centred leadership.
Karen is registered as a Chartered HR Practitioner with the SABPP (reg # 10316).

Karen has built up a network of specialists with whom she consults when projects require this.
Karen believes that the HR function does not stand alone but that it exists primarily to ensure that the organisation’s strategy is implemented through effective management of employees and related resources. Believing that effectiveness is best achieved through simplicity, Karen aims to assist clients to implement payroll and HR procedures which are clear, easy to maintain and bring about a performance culture that helps make strategy a reality.
